Who are school-based mental health and prevention providers?

School-based mental health providers collaborate with district staff while bringing unique training and expertise to address the mental health needs of preK-12 students. They provide school-based therapy to students who are referred to the school-based mental health team. On staff, we have two mental health specialists, a licensed art therapist, and a licensed clinical counselor, available for our students.

Our I³: Inspired, Individualized, Inclusive program (also known as Strategic Prevention Framework) focuses on substance use prevention. Our goal is to educate our students, families, and community to reduce the misuse of substances and prevent further misuse. We also focus on mental health prevention and education. Our team consists of a Project Director, Data Analyst, and Prevention Specialist.

Here is a helpful description of each of our school-based mental health and prevention providers:

SPF Project Director

Our director oversees the mental health team and the I³ program. The Project Director ensures progress toward goals and objectives for the school-based mental health and prevention team.

SPF Data Analyst

Our Data Analyst collects, organizes, and evaluates mental health data for the school-based mental health and prevention team. The Data Analyst also works directly with students and families to implement and disseminate evidence-based strategies and programs.

Prevention Specialist

Our Prevention Specialist meets with students and families for specific mental health and substance misuse prevention intervention delivery. The Prevention Specialist also serves as a liaison between the school and the community. They also coordinate tiered intervention programming utilizing research-based programs and interventions.

Mental Health Specialist

Provide a focused delivery of services for identified students needing additional mental health and behavioral support based on clinical assessments and identified mental health disorders.
