This week, First Grade Art Students at Grandview Elementary listened to the book "Let's Play" by author and illustrator Hevré Tullet. They then explored using lines to express emotion and create playful artwork!

Today, 9/10, is World Suicide Prevention Day, where the SPF team took the opportunity to engage with students about mental health and the 988 lifeline. Students and staff wore purple and teal to show support. Airheads were distributed to students stickered with “You Matter” labels, encouraging them to write a kind note and then pass it forward. A heartfelt thank you to Perfetti Van Melle for their generous donation and support in promoting student mental health. Throughout the rest of the month, the SPF team will continue to sponsor the “You Matter” initiative at both schools, raising awareness and education surrounding suicide prevention. Together, we can make a difference!

Mr. Boh's students worked together to decorate their classroom door with historical thinking skills!

Working together on this door allowed them to build foundational knowledge. Any student who passes by in the hall can learn about essential questions, supporting questions, contextualization, close reading, and corroboration.
