The Thursday before Thanksgiving is Children’s Grief Awareness Day. Students and staff were encouraged to wear blue today in support of grieving children and teens. This year, BMHS students also completed a grief education activity of writing out “chat bubbles.” Students could choose to write a message of support to a grieving friend or a message to someone they’ve lost. #LoveTheVue #TigerPride

Yesterday, the prevention team collaborated with GES students during health classes to focus on enhancing self-esteem. The students engaged in activities that helped them identify what healthy self-esteem looks like, which is closely linked to academic success. Low self-esteem can manifest in several ways, such as social withdrawal, self-criticism, signs of regression, or giving up easily. Activities designed to improve self-esteem can gradually boost a student’s confidence. The students had a great time participating in all the planned activities.
