Are you a Bellevue High School student looking for a great, work-based learning opportunity? Check out the information below!
WHAT IS NAVIGO SCHOLARS?
NaviGo Scholars is an incredible work-based learning opportunity for regional high school students to learn about potential future careers.
Through NaviGo Scholars, tri-state businesses have the power to connect with high school students in the region who have the interest and aptitude for their industry. Students have the opportunity to explore and experience the focused industry/business/career paths offered by the sponsoring company. NaviGo, through the help of local educational and community partners, recruits students to apply to be part of the individual Scholars programs. Sponsors then personally select who they want to be part of their focused Scholars group. Applications are open now through 9/4, and students will be notified of their acceptance on Monday, 9/9.
Once selected, Scholars and their parents are invited to attend the NaviGo Scholars Kick-Off Event on September 15th to meet the business sponsors and NaviGo Coaches and celebrate the beginning of the program. Scholars groups meet 2x/month; the first meeting of the month is held at the business location and consists of activities conducted by the sponsor (NaviGo Coach attends). The second meeting is held on a local college campus in which the NaviGo Coach processes the previous meeting with the Scholars and provides ongoing college & career planning. We have three different offerings of Scholars groups: full year groups, fall groups and spring groups. Scholars groups that are full year meet 2x/month from September through April, fall groups meet 2x/month from September through December, and spring groups meet 2x/month from January through April. In April, an End of Year Celebration is held to commemorate the incredible opportunities the Scholars have experienced with their business sponsors and NaviGo Coaches.
Check below for all of the different scholarship groups!
REMINDER! TOMORROW!
After the Back to School Bash on Wednesday, August 7th, be sure to stay from 6:30-7:30 PM to listen to our guest speaker, Hasan Davis, while your kids get the chance to play outside with Skool Aid!
Please see below for information about Hasan Davis and his amazing work!
A Vision To See All Children Reach Their Greatest Potential For more than 25 years, Hasan has held to the belief that each child can and will succeed as long as adults in their world create hope. Starting as a counselor and a teaching artist, and through his years as a youth development specialist, Hasan has transformed the attitudes and strategies of school and facility staff, parents, and members of the community to help hundreds of children graduate from high school and go on to earn degrees from colleges and universities. In addition to his work at schools, Hasan has been Commissioner of Juvenile Justice for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Vice Chair of the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice, and an organizational consultant. With this experience, he has transformed organizations and public systems to ensure they have the capacity to not only meet the needs of the children and families they serve, but also are transparent and set metrics and methods of accountability. Part stand-up comedian, part storyteller, part statistician; Hasan invites audiences on an emotional experience. Sharing his journey from Juvenile Delinquent to Juris Doctor, Hasan is proof positive that great things can happen when adults champion the lives of children. Few can receive a standing ovation from a room of Wall Street bankers and an auditorium of maximum-security inmates – Hasan has.
