Yesterday, the Prevention Team volunteered at the Northern Kentucky Youth Summit. Approximately 400 middle and high school students from various schools in Northern Kentucky participated in the day-long summit. The students experienced breakout sessions and activities guided to strengthen their leadership and advocacy skills, feel empowered to make change in their community, help to address youth substance use trends, and foster resiliency skills to better cope with mental illness.
The team also met with Taylor Rae's mother, Taylora, who created the Rae of Sunshine non-profit foundation which works to eliminate the stigma of mental health and increase access to social and emotional health resources and support through positive acts of kindness. This is in honor of her late daughter Taylor Rae. The team is actively working to sponsor a S.M.I.L.E. Club at Bellevue High School.
